The Hebrew Benevolent Society of Charleston, SC founded in 1784, is the oldest Jewish charitable society in the United States. Our mission is to extend aid and comfort to those of our co-religionists in need: the indigent sick, the widow, the orphan, the aged, destitute families, and children.
